Job Summary

The college is seeking applicants for Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor positions in Economics for fall 2016. Continued strong student demand is expected and subsequent employment in future years may be possible, but cannot be guaranteed.

  • The selected candidates may have teaching responsibility in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs.
  • In these positions, faculty are expected help the Dean of the College of Business to continue to engage and interact with managers in the Houston business community in order to ensure resulting management course competencies parallel with industry needs.
Requirements

Degree and Experience Requirements:

  • Applicants for the Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor positions should have a PhD, DBA, JD with active state license, or other similar terminal degree in the respective fields for which they are applying.

Other:

  • For full-time candidates for the Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor positions, an academic publication record and/or the desire for academic publication is expected; a supportive publication environment will be provided.
  • Candidates should provide a record or demonstrate the potential for effective teaching using a variety of methodologies, and have interest in teaching in a multi-ethnic, multicultural environment. We encourage a pedagogical approach to teaching that emphasizes practical applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A terminal degree from an AACSB accredited school is asset.
  • Prior work experience or demonstrated equivalence is an asset.
  • A work history in one of Houston’s primary business sectors is an asset.
  • Recent ABDs are encouraged to apply.
